After maybe two months of reading, I finally finish this book, which has no more than 200 pages!
I didn't know anything except the name before starting reading it. I thought it was a book about 'how to be successful' and I didn't have much expectation (since I never believe that there is any rule for success). The beginning of the book is boring to me. It talked about the life of the upper class, the parties, love affairs, etc. I didn't know what is that for? What do you want to say?
So I didn't know what I was reading untill the middle of the book. Then suddenly it switched to be a love story! Love story of Gatsby & Daisy and also love story of the author... So I suddenly became addicted to the book ---- I finished the rest of the book in one week, while it took me more than one month going through the 1st half of it!! (That's when I found myself havn't read a love story book for a long time.)
What I feel about the story between Gatsby and Daisy is: it reminds me of the feeling of 'first love', true, moving. A man loving a girl all his heart and life.
It's a pitty that it ends without hint. All of a sudden Wilson is dead and all of a sudden Gatsby as well.
Daisy never appears after the decisive accidence. And he was dead without getting respect that he deserved.
In the end of the story, the author tried to clarify the real purpose of the story but I still couldn't fully catch it. I missed too much of what he is talking in the first half of the book because I was not patient enough to read those I don' t understand the purpose.
I may go back and read again. At last this is a good book and worth reading twice.
And what's more probably that I will do? Maybe watch the movie first~
